Shanklin SC at the Gurnard Junior Regatta 29th-31st July 2011

Two of our cadets took part in their first ever full scale regatta at Gurnard Sailing Club last weekend. There were over 50 boats competing in light and variable winds. Negotiating the tide and rocks made for some challenging sailing.
Both boats completed 7 races over the course of the three days which for each was almost double their previous racing experience! Ryan Tulloch competed in the single handed Pico fleet, with 28 boats in his class he acheived an excellent 14th overall including a second place in the penultimate race.
Lily Giles raced 2up with Becky Hardman, they managed a very creditable 10th out of 16 boats in their fleet. They also acheived a second place in their final race of the event.
